What sweet memories I have of dear Aunt Harriet and your family and her cat! I was blessed to find out that she taught Good News Clubs, as I do too. ✝️

My sister, Marie, introduced me to the Head family and we had many years of deep friendship, especially with Judy and Dave (who were our age). It was because of them that we joined Mt. Morris Community Church where we had years of wonderful fellowship and service. And it was because of that church that I began attending Good News Camp.
My many visits with the Head family included some car rides. Harriet invariably would lead us in song – especially included would be a round where everyone eventually was targeted (insert your own name!):
Mrs. Head: “Oh, Suzie do you love Jesus?”
Me: “Oh, yes, I love Jesus!”
Mrs. Head: “Tell me why do you love Jesus.”
Me: “Here’s why I love Jesus – because He first loved me.”
All: That’s the reason we all ought to love Him and Oh, how I love Jesus. Oh, how I love Jesus. Oh, how I love Jesus! Because He first loved me.
This was a Christ-centered family, and gracious to the core; I always felt welcomed by Lou and Harriett. I don’t know anyone else who could say “Oh” or “Oh?” or “Oh!” with so many different voices as Mrs. Head!

Thanks so much for sharing your memories, Suzanne. Interestingly enough, the song you mentioned that we sang in the car was included in the eulogy at Mom's funeral ~ it obviously stood the test of time! Our family was so blessed by your friendship and that of your family. Thank you ~ Rebekah

To Harriet Head's family,
She was an interesting lady whom I met in the Flint Poetry Forum in Clio. While we were in that group it was fun to hear the poems that the members would write to share with us. One time she hosted a holiday gathering at her home & we all had a great time, especially when she invited us to go look in this room she had placed out several pieces of jewelry she had that she wanted to share with the ladies in the FPF. Last year I got a chance to talk to her when I told her about a poem she had written about her Aunt Helen. I told her I would send it to her, now that I knew where she was living. She was so happy about that. Sorry for your loss, though I'm sure you'll enjoy the poetry she must have left behind for you all to read & remember her.

Sadonna, thank you for sharing your memories. I can just picture Mom laying out the jewelry for the ladies. She LOVED having visitors! I was with her when she received your call; she was so happy to hear from you. Thank you for reaching out to her. Yes, Mom had a couple albums filled with her poems, and we're still finding more. They're fun to read; many were written to include in cards, so they have special memories attached. She left us a wonderful legacy between her poems, music, and faith.

Reading through Mom's poems, I found several she wrote preparing for a Poetry Forum meeting. Several were poems musing about what she should write for the meeting. :D She did love her time in the forum! I contacted the Clio Senior Center to ask if they were still meeting, so I could let you all know if her passing. I was sad to hear neither the poetry forum nor the writing group still meet.

Harriet was in my Community Bible Study core group. She was so faithful in her attendance and loved sharing her answers with the group. Heaven has gained a lovely godly woman!

I spent a lot of time, as a child, at the house. Rachel was one of my best friends. I went to church with the Head's, spent a lot of time, playing at their house, Mrs Head taught me during Vacation Bible School. I have so many memories that involve Mrs Head! I am praying for the extended family.
