Obituary of Dale Walter Hitchcock
Age 73, of Mt. Morris, died on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at The Pines Of Burton with his family by his side. The funeral will take place at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 3, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Dale's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. Pastor Larry Servance officiating, with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery in Grand Blanc. Dale was born in Flint, on June 27, 1949, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Frances (Jean) Hitchcock. Educated locally, Dale graduated from Genesee High School, with the class of 1967. Shortly after graduating, Dale began working for Buick for many years. Heeding the call of duty, Dale enlisted in the United States Army. Specialist Dale Hitchcock honorably fought with the First and Fifth Infinitry "Red Diamond" and earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, Overseas Service Bar, Army Expert Marksman with M14, and M16. Upon returning to civilian life, Dale was a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, American Legion Post #158 in Clio, and served on the honor guard for military funerals for over ten years. Dale was a member of the Genesee Twp. Fire Department From 1972 until 1983. Dale was also a long-time member of the Genesee Methodist Church, and Eagle's Nest. In his free time, Dale loved spending time with family and friends, playing the guitar acoustic, electric, and bass guitar. He was known by his family and friends for being a jokester, who never met a stranger. Dale also enjoyed listening to music, cooking, and spending time at the family cabin in Oscoda boating and waterskiing. Dale's family would like to extend a special thank you to mom and Bill for their love and support, as well as the staff at The Pines of Burton-Memory Care team.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved children: Stacie and husband Nicholas Gergely, Scott and wife Kristie Hitchcock; grandchildren: Taylor, Tyler, Brooke, Jack, and Blake; brothers, Brian and wife, Paula Hitchcock, Jerry Galey; great-grandson: Hudson; nieces and nephews: Lesa, Wayne, Jason, Jenette, Ryan, Craig, Jenny, and families; lifelong friends: Joanne, Terry, John, and Mike; special cousin, Curt.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Karen Galey Hitchcock; and nephew, David Galey.
