William “Bill” Anderson was born on November 21, 1940, in St. Clair, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur and Eva (Discher) Anderson. Bill loved the water, spending most days swimming and playing in the St. Clair River. He attended St. Clair High School, until he answered his country's call to join the United States Navy. While home on leave from the Navy, he attended a square dance in Brown City, where his heart was stolen by a lovely girl named Charlotte “Pinky” Mabbitt. Unfortunately, he had to return to finish his duty, and upon his return to civilian life at home, he and Pinky reconnected, and would spend their lives together in love. Their union would be blessed with three children. Bill was a dedicated General Motors employee for 36 years, and was a member of UAW Local #599, until his retirement. After retirement, Bill and Pinky traveled all over the United States in their camper. Bill was a talented musician, and he played in country western bands with Pinky for many years and especially enjoyed playing at the Clio Senior Center. Some bands they played with include Country Ramblers, Copper Creek, and Mint City Jammers. Performing music would take them on travels across Michigan, Arizona, Texas, and Seattle. Bill was exceptionally gifted because he was a drummer who loved to sing while playing. Bill embraced many charities in his life, but none so dear as St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Bill was a man of faith, having been a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. One of Bill’s favorite hobbies was woodworking, from large projects such as renovating his home to small whittling projects. Bill was a kind and gentle man who will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte Anderson; children: Tracey Anderson, Michael, and wife Nancy Anderson, Risa and husband Randy Gaidjiergis; grandchildren: Nicolas and wife Marley Pipitone, Devon Anderson, Shadae Anderson, Ian Anderson, Presley Anderson, Adam Anderson, Ava Capri Anderson, Skyler Anderson, Kylie Anderson; great-granddaughter, Elise Pipitone.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lynne Packard; brothers-in-law: Terry Packard, Glenn Robinson, Jay Paul Meharg, Peter Mabbitt, and Paul Wilson Mabbit, Jr; his parents-in-law, Paul Wilson Mabbitt, Sr. and Zita Robinson Mabbitt.
