Obituary of Neil Arthur Barnes

Of Vassar, age 82, died Monday, September 30, 2013. The memorial service will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Martin Funeral Home - Vassar with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Neil's family will be present at the funeral home on Saturday, October 12, 2013, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Vassar Historical Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Neil was born November 29, 1930, in Vassar, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur and Fay (Miller) Barnes. He worked in the agriculture industry his entire working life. He worked at William-Mueller & Sons for many years until his retirement in 1994. Neil was a loving and caring son, father and grandfather that enjoyed spending as much time with his family as he could, he especially loved traveling with his grandchildren. In later years he had a special interest in the local historical societies. Left to cherish his memory, two children Brad (Ginger) Barnes and Lori (Randy)Perry; four grandchildren; Candice Barnes-Wackman, Justin (Angie) Perry, Trevor (Jasmine) Perry and Troy (Jess) Perry; seven great-grandchildren; Olivia and Kenadee Barnes-Wackman, Daphne, Ariel and Carly Perry, Landen and Dillon Perry; brother Clare (Patricia) Barnes, sister-in-law Gene Barnes, and many other family members and friends. Neil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vern and Alden.
