Fred was born in Flint on December 28, 1956, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Manfray and Donna (Brockway) Lewis. Educated locally, Fred graduated from Byron High School with the Class of 1975. Fred met the love of his life, Rita Pruett, and the two were united in marriage on July 3, 1982. Fred was a carpenter and owned his own business called F & R Construction. He loved to build anything, especially birdhouses and bird feeders. Fred loved his family; his grandchildren were his life. He would make obstacles in the yard to make it fun for them as well as build forts, pushed them on the swing, and do anything else they wanted. He would do anything to make them laugh. Fred was an amazing husband and father, and grandfather. He was never more than a phone call away and would always be there to answer any question or drop what he was doing to help others. Fred enjoyed going Up North to his cabin in Hale and going out on the boat. He loved taking cruises around the lake. He was the best at building a fire and would cut down any tree to make the best and biggest fire and burn it all in one night. Fred also enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, driving to random places, or going for walks in the evening. He was a wonderful, selfless, loving man and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Fred's memory is his beloved wife of 40 years, Rita; children: Derek (Kelly), Ian (Danielle), Jobin (Ashley); grandchildren: Layla, Lana, Jace, Jaxon, Cash, Violet, Ryatt, Maya, Jack; siblings: Debbie (Derek), Kenny, Kimberly (Mitch); several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Louie, and sister, Kathy.
