Obituary of Rita Jean Lamson
Rita J. Lamson, age 91, of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Flint, Michigan, passed away peacefully into the Lord’s hands on October 27, 2022. A graveside service will take place at 12:00 noon, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Eric Lewis to officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County, 2005 Copas Rd. Owosso, MI 48867. Rita had a love of ice skating that began at the early age of 17. By 18 years old she became a professional, and joined The Sonja Henie Hollywood Ice Review, skating with renowned star Barbra Ann Scott. She toured with the show until she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Lamson; celebrating 68 years this November.
Rita was instrumental in developing The Learn to Skate programs for tiny tots through senior citizens at Ballenger Park, IMA Sports Arena, and Genesee Iceland. She continued to teach skating into her late sixties. She devoted the last five years of her teaching career to special needs athletes from the Elmer Knoff Learning Center. In addition, Rita enjoyed sharing the stage and dancing with The Million Dollar Babies.

Rita leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband Tom; four children: John and his wife, Tina Lamson of Flint, Karen and her husband, Rod Uhelski of Burton, Tommy Lamson of Flint, and Doug and his wife, Nancy Lamson of Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sisters: JoAnn Guerra of St. Augustine Florida and Ruby Barlow of Warwick, Rhode Island; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elvira Corso; her brothers-in-law: Footie Guerra and Denny Barlow; and her daughter-in-law, Tracy Lamson.
