Norma was born in Saginaw on February 14, 1922, the daughter of Ms. Alma Hughes. She met and married the love of her life, Roderick MacDonald, and the two were united in marriage. Their union would bear them three beautiful children. Norma was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved to dance and met her beloved husband at a dance. Their love of dance continued for many years as they went to the IMA every weekend just to dance. When she wasn’t dancing, she could be found fishing or hunting up North on Drummond Island. Norma was an amazing cook and baker and was known for her homemade apple pies and loaves of fresh bread. In her free time, she enjoyed spending as much time with her family as she could. They were her world, and she was theirs. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Norma’s memory are her children: Andria and husband, John Gardner, Bruce MacDonald; grandchildren: Raymond and wife, Debbie Gardner, Tonya Ulmer, Burt and wife, Tabatha MacDonald, Kyleen and husband, Dan Miller; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Karen MacDonald; and special friend Kim Miller.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Roderick; parents; son, Theodore "Ted" MacDonald; grandchildren: Billie MacDonald and Darren Gardner; and her four sisters.
