Ann was born in Waverly, Illinois, on August 18, 1928, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred and Lillie (Luken) Harney. She was educated at Roxana High School in Waverly and achieved the honor of salutatorian in her graduating class of 1946. On May 7, 1947, Ann married the love of her life, Gabe Hendren. It was love at first sight for them, and their union would be blessed with three lovely daughters. Ann worked several secretarial positions, both volunteer and professionally, but her purpose in life was caring for her family. Ann’s life was dedicated to the upkeep and care of her family and home. Ann loved to spend time birdwatching and looking especially for goldfinches. She loved to solve word puzzles and had a huge collection of them. Ann loved Jeopardy! and while watching Wheel of Fortune could solve the word board faster than anyone. Ann was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Flint and was a devout Christian who read her Bible daily and dutifully kept her calendar diary.
Left to cherish Ann’s memory are her daughters: Linda Hope and husband, Fred Eveleigh, Jeannette "Gay" and husband, William McArthur, Patty and husband, David Williams; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her beloved cats and dogs.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Gabe, and sisters, Opal and DD.
