Cheryl was born in Flint on November 26, 1957, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Carol (Coats) Cannoy. Educated locally, Cheryl attended Flushing High School, graduating with the Class of 1975. Cheryl began her career working on the Assembly Line for General Motors in Flint and then transferred to the General Motors plant in Missouri where she was a fork truck operator until her retirement on May 31, 2007. Driving the fork truck was her favorite position. Shortly after her retirement, Cheryl went to work at the local school where she drove a school bus. Cheryl was often seen with a piping hot cup of Tim Horton's coffee in her hand or an ice-cold Pepsi. Her family always told her that coffee ran through her veins. Shopping was one of Cheryl’s favorite pastimes, and she loved to look at everything. It didn’t matter what store she was at, she could always find something. Cheryl enjoyed a good meal and enjoyed going to lunch with her family at Lucky’s or Leo’s. She also loved her snacks and would often hide them so only she knew where they were. Cheryl loved her family, especially her grandchildren and she will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Cheryl’s memory are her children: Heather and husband, Jim Atkinson, and Emily Dowell; grandchildren: Jacob Atkinson, Jace Dowell, Vanessa Grey, Gabe Atkinson, Daisy Atkinson, Naiyah Neverdusky; siblings: Joann and husband Bob, Windish, Richard and wife, Kim Taylor, Mike and wife, Laura Taylor, Ed and wife, Connie Taylor; special friend, Chuck Snooks; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
