Of Clio, age 88, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Maple Woods Manor. The funeral service will take place, 11:00 am, Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Lyle Thompson will officiate with burial to follow in Thetford Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Clio Youth Sports Complex or Alzheimers Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Arlus was born March 26, 1925, in Insul, Kentucky the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey and Martha (Ealy) Daniels. He and Mildred Wright were united in marriage July 2, 1946, in Kentucky. Arlus proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as a press operator with AC Spark Plug for 37 years. Arlus was a member of the UAW # 651 and the VFW # 1452.
Left to cherish his memory are his four sons, Arlus, Jr., Terry and wife, Paula, Donny, Teddy and wife, Kathy; son-in-law, Phil Mills; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Christine McElyea, Evelyn and husband, Lyle Thompson, Lee and wife, Bernice Daniels, Vagil Holden, Jerry and wife, Donna Daniels and Dessie and husband, Tom Welker; and many nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred; son, Danny; daughter, Brenda Mills; grandson, Tony; three brothers, L.J., Eugene, and Steve and two sisters, Betty Karlene and Viola Miracle. The family would like to extend a special thank you to neighbors, Mark and Mary, and the Staff of Maple Woods Manor and Hospice.
