Margaret was born in Mt. Morris, MI, on July 14, 1933, to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick and Bernadine (Drake) Slattery. She graduated from St. Mary’s School in 1951 and shortly thereafter married Dwight Deitering of Gaylord, MI, where they raised a family of nine children. In 1972, she married Clarence Head and welcomed his children into her life. Although family was the most important purpose in her life, Margaret worked beside her husband, Clarence as the record keeper for his family's construction company. Together they also built a successful china matching company, Treasure Hunt. She loved animals and you would never see Margaret without at least one dog. Margaret was passionate about her faith and was a parishioner at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hot Springs, AR, at the time of her passing. She was staunchly conservative and loved her country, particularly those who served in the military. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 822 Auxiliary of Flint. Margaret lived most of her life in her beloved state of Michigan, but for health concerns she relocated to Hot Springs, AR, in 2015, to live with her daughter. She continued to enjoy several hobbies which included gardening, ceramics, and music.
Margaret was greeted at Heaven’s door by her parents; her sisters: Mary, Joan, Elizabeth, and Barbara; her brothers: Patrick, Daniel, William, and Michael; her cherished husband, Clarence; and her sons: David, Steven, and James.
Left to cherish Margaret’s memory are her children: John Deitering of Bay City, MI, Karen (Brian) Wilson of Newport, TN, Cheryl (Donald) Galster of Hot Springs, AR, Mary (Robert) Bournival of Hot Springs, AR, Suzan Townsend of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Richard (Gaylene) Deitering of Belleville, MI, Phyllis Deitering of Flint, MI, George (Barbara) Head of Gaylord, MI, Christine (Richard) Anderson of Rothdrum, ID, Karen (Roger) Bondie of LaSalle, MI, Robin (Matthew) Spake of Hot Springs, AR; brother, Robert Slattery of Mt.
