Sandra “Sandy” was born in Flint, on October 28, 1938, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Virginia (O'Toole) Cummings. On November 10, 1956, she married the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” O’Brien. Their union would be blessed with seven beautiful children. Sadly, Tom preceded her in death on April 17, 1987. Sandy and Tom owned O’Brien Cleaners in Mt. Morris until their retirement in 1987. Sandy was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She has attended there since she was in the second grade and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School with the class of 1956. Sandy was what you would call a “History Buff.” She loved everything about history, especially the Civil War. She enjoyed taking trips to historical sites and frequenting museums to get as much history as she could take in. Sandy has traveled all over the United States as a child with her parents. Sandy enjoyed camping in Tawas or at any State Park where she could set up camp and sit by the fire and read any murder mysteries, history book, or biographies. She also enjoyed being at her cottage at Fish Pointe. Watching ESPN and college sports was one of her favorite pastimes. She never missed a Detroit Tigers Game or a Red Wings Game. She was an all-star at Jeopardy too. Sandy loved her family and loved being a grandmother. She would spend her time driving her grandchildren to and from school and practices. Her family was her world, and she will be greatly missed
