Obituary of Dennis Gan Shannon
Age 67, of Clio died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at home with his family by his side. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Family will be present to receive friends from 9:30 am until the time of service. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to The Old Newsboys of Flint, Michigan. Dennis was born in Flint, Michigan on January 24, 1954, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert and Stella (Gan) Shannon. Raised and educated locally Dennis graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School with the Class of 1973. Dennis met, fell in love with and married Ms. Nancy Cherwinski in June of 1978 at Saint Mary Catholic Church. Dennis started his career with General Motors, working in production for 30 years until his retirement. Being a busybody after retirement Dennis went to work for Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools for an additional 6 years. When not busy working, Dennis could be found tinkering and fixing almost anything. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, he loved having bonfires and target practice with his guns. Dennis also enjoyed the outdoors traveling in their trailer camping and fishing in State Parks all over Michigan. He was an antique tractor enthusiast, and enjoyed model airplanes. When not outdoors, Dennis could be found watching Youtube videos on antique tractor history, and machinery of all kinds. Most of all, Dennis loved his family, his wife, children and grandbabies.
Left to cherish Dennis’s memory is his wife of 43 years: Nancy; daughter: Jacqueline and husband, Brent Jones; grandchildren: Charlotte, Maddox, and Taylor Jones; brother: Mark and wife, Rhonda Shannon; in-laws: Judy and Mike Ehrmantraut, Bob Cherwinski, Jerry and Lana Cherwinski, Doug and Jill Cherwinski, Paul and Michelle Cherwinski, Beverly and Charles Calkins, Mary Ellen and Terry Keys, Lisa Cherwinski, and Annette White; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Stella Shannon; sister: Rebecca Shannon; mother and father-in-law: Rita and Stanley Cherwinski; brother-in-law: Chris Cherwinski.
