Richard proudly served in the United States National Guard until his honorable discharge. Richard met the love of his life, Betty Pifer, and the two were united in marriage on May 19, 1956. Richard worked in the construction industry at Baker Construction for several years before accepting a position working at General Motors Buick. Upon his retirement from Buick, Richard went back to doing what he loved and began working for Spawn Construction Company for many more years. He enjoyed woodworking and made many amazing items such as rocking horses, mirrors, clocks, and jewelry boxes, to name a few. Richard was an avid coin and baseball card collector. He was always lending a helping hand and he loved to take care of his family. He was a wonderful dad and husband and was known as a jokester. Richard enjoyed teaching his granddaughter everything she needed to know about her car and helping another granddaughter build her home in St. Helen. He was a wonderful man. And will be greatly missed.
