Frederick was born in Flint on November 18, 1961, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Walter and Mavis (Hardenburg) Seidling. Educated locally, Frederick graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School with the Class of 1979. Shortly after graduation, he heeded the call to serve his country in the United States Marines. Frederick proudly served as a Staff Sergeant as well as a recruiter for the Marines while also holding a position in the United States Air Force Reserves. Frederick worked for the military for 20 years, until his retirement in 1999. For the next 18 years, he would take on a position as a foreman, working for US Steel, until his retirement in 2011. Frederick met the love of his life, Sheryl Adams, at a mutual friend’s house party. The two dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on June 10, 1994, at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene. Frederick was a very busy and helpful person. He would always be the first to help anyone with anything that they needed to have done. Frederick loved to be in the woods. He enjoyed chopping wood for the wood-burning stove in his home, kayaking on the Au Sable River, and 4-wheeling with his grandkids. Frederick enjoyed camping, and just being outdoors in general. In fact, for the last couple of years, he worked at the Alcona Park Campground. He was grateful to be able to live the last few years in the cabin that his dad and grandpa built. It was his own little slice of heaven. Frederick loved his family, and absolutely adored his grandchildren. He was a wonderful family man, spending time with his parents and siblings. He had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Swiper. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Frederick’s memory is his loving wife of 27 years, Sheryl Seidling; children: Diane and husband, AJ Garcia, Kate and husband, Michael Miller, and Jeffrey Seidling; grandchildren: Mason, Addison, Carmen, Alaina, Nolan, Jordan; siblings: Anita and husband, Chris Jackson, Cheryl and husband, Julio Perez.
Frederick was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Michael Seidling.
