Obituary of Frances Anne Fortinberry
Age 82, of Flushing, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at home with her family by her side. A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 9, 2021, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Reverend Ray Strawser to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Frances was born in Flint, on January 17, 1939, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. and Harriet (Tanner) O'Toole. Educated locally, Frances graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the Class of 1957, where she played the cello and clarinet in the band. Frances met and married the love of her life, Leland Fortinberry, on August 21, 1959. Sadly, he preceded her in death on July 28, 2012. Frances worked as the Treasurer for Mt. Morris Township until her retirement in 1981. Raising a family of her own was her most important duty. She loved being a mother and a grandmother. Frances enjoyed traveling and she and her husband would take their family on many vacations throughout the years. They traveled all over the United States together. Frances had a kind and gentle spirit and was always willing to help others. Watching Michigan football was one of her favorite pastimes. She rarely missed a game. In her free time, Frances could be found reading a good book, putting together a puzzle, and listening to music, especially the Statler Brothers and the Irish Tenors. She loved her animals, especially her dog, Sophie, and her cat, Kitty. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Frances’ memory are her children: Kathy Fortinberry, Steven and wife, Heidi Fortinberry and Daryl Fortinberry; grandchildren: Alexander Fortinberry, Sydne Owens, Jordan Owens, Kaylee Owens; brother: Robert and wife, Mary O'Toole; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 53 years, Leland Dow Fortinberry; parents; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Fortinberry; sisters: Norma Foether and Ruth Kendall.
