Obituary of Jerry Howey
Age 83, of Mt. Morris, died Monday, June 28, 2021, at home. In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A burial will take place at 9:00 am, Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Jerry was born in Flushing, Michigan, on March 29, 1938. Educated locally, he graduated from Flushing High School with the Class of 1956. Shortly after graduation, Jerry heeded the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Navy. Proudly serving his country, Jerry was honorably discharged in 1968. Upon his return to civilian life, Jerry owned and operated a Shell Service Station where he also worked as a mechanic for 10 years before venturing out to continue his skills with other companies until his retirement in 1989. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #158 and an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3485 in Mt. Morris, where Jerry served as the secretary for many years. Jerry was a member of the band, The Avengers, playing gigs at the Eagles Club in Mt. Morris. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed golfing with his friends and traveling to Las Vegas.
Left to cherish Jerry’s memory are his son, Guy Howie; 11 brothers and sisters; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
