Ruth Ann was born in Flint, on December 25, 1938, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Kathryn (Weaver) Lefurgey. Ruth Ann met and married the love of her life, Peter Gaylord, on April 16, 1957, in Angola, Indiana. Their union brought them two beautiful daughters. Ruth Ann was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, who doted on her family and loved them fiercely. Ruth Ann was a wonderful cook with some of her favorite specialties including her famous chop suey, homemade soups, and her scalloped potatoes. She had great enthusiasm and zest for life. She enjoyed Sunday hikes with her family that ended with stopping to get ice cream. Ruth Ann loved to talk, and she spoke her mind. She was very stubborn and in turn she was just as tough. Ruth Ann enjoyed camping in the U.P. and all over the country in her tent, camper, or motorhome. She loved to travel and was always up for an adventure or a party. She enjoyed traveling to wherever her grandchildren lived to take care of them when their parents went on vacation. She loved her dogs and all dogs in general. Ruth Ann loved her family and spending time with her family above all else. She was a very passionate person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish Ruth Ann’s memory are her loving husband of 64 years, Peter Gaylord; daughters: Laurie and husband, Brad Salow, Lynn and husband, Mel Harrison; sisters: Dianne and husband, Ron Blake, Martha Lefurgey; grandsons: William Harrison, Wyatt Harrison, Jonathan Salow; several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Lefurgey.
