Age 74, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Ascension Genesys, with her family by her side. In accordance with Geraldine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Geraldine was born in Goodrich on November 16, 1946, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald and Grace (Haddrill) Walter. Educated locally, Geraldine graduated from Flint Central High School with the Class of 1964. She went on to obtain her Associate Degree in Gerontology from Mott Community College and went on to receive a certificate in Adult Foster Care from MSU as well as Nursing Home Administrative Certificate from MSU. Geraldine loved to shop for her family for clothes and home improvement projects. She enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit with her friends and to Arkansas to visit family. Geraldine was an excellent cook and was famous for her fudge. She was a jokester that was larger than life. Geraldine loved her family and spending time with them was her favorite pastime. She could always be seen at her grandchildren’s sporting events along with any other activities they did. Talking on the phone with her family is what she truly enjoyed most.
Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory her son, Bennie Thompson, daughters: Deri McCandlish, Shirley Severns-Sanders; grandchildren: Geren, Ashley, Bennie, III, Myia, Chloe; four great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Tasharra and god-daughter, Queenie; close friends: Jeff and John.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Grant and Louise.
