Age 83, of Chesaning, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Soin Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio, Rev. Fr. Ken Coughlin officiating with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Marlene’s family will be present to receive friends at Martin Funeral Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, May 24, 2021. On Monday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. On Tuesday morning, Marlene will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
Marlene was born in Flushing, on May 10, 1938, to Mr. and Mrs. John and Mattie (Higdon) Hautala. Marlene met, fell in love with, and married the love of her life Robert Heit on February 4, 1956, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Flint. Sadly, Robert preceded her in death on January 20, 2014. Marlene was a homemaker with many interests. She loved rock collecting, traveling, crafting, crocheting, and making birdhouses. Marlene was known as an amazing cook with a flair for German chocolate cake. She loved growing flowers in her garden and collecting many vases to display them indoors. Marlene was a loving and caring mother who delighted in spending time with her family, and she was always ready with a laugh. Marlene will be missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Bryant and wife, Dorothey Heit, Michael and wife, Cindy Heit, Anthony and wife, Nancy Heit, Joseph Heit; daughters: Mary Powell, Teresa, and husband, Pete Bell, Ann and husband, Floyd Chasse; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings: Florence Walling, Jack, and wife, Bonita Hautala; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Heit; children: Timothy and Jill; siblings: Ernie, Lorraine, Lillian, Betty, and Doris.
