Age 93 of Grand Blanc, died Thursday, May 14, 2021, at Ascension Genesys Hospital. In accordance with Wilma's wishes, cremation has taken place. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family.
Wilma was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on September 12, 1927, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Zada (Ellis) Allen. Educated at Flint Bible Institute and Mott Community College, Wilma became a certified dietician. She also worked as a professional clown and was affiliated with an organization in Arizona. Wilma was a balloon sculpturist, and she designed and sewed her own clown outfits. Wilma worked at a lot of senior citizen centers, convalescent homes, Sunday school classes, and anywhere smiles were needed. She loved making people happy and spreading joy to others.
Wilma was a master crocheter and phenomenal seamstress who did a lot of quilting. She loved to bake and cook. Her famous recipe was for her homemade biscuits, for which she wrote the recipe. Wilma used to do cake decorating for birthday parties, weddings, and just for fun, and she took several classes to master the art of cake decorating. She loved to decorate halls for weddings and parties. She was a calligrapher. Wilma could take raw stones and crystals and design jewelry. She loved to read, and Billy Graham was one of her favorite evangelists to read and listen to. Most of all, Wilma loved spending time with her family.
Wilma leaves to cherish her memory husband James Malaska; daughter Dawnelle Sloat, and two sons, Dennis and wife Rebecca (Brownfield) and Douglas and wife Linda (Brownfield); grandchildren: Lindsey Burt, Jason, and wife, Lindsay Brownfield, Allysyn and husband, Jason Duranseau; great-grandchildren Piper, Levi; several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings William, Geraldine, and Richard.
