Claudene Leola Oram died peacefully at home on April 13, 2021. She was born October 3, 1942, in Flint to Adrian and Nora Alice (Smith) Davis.
Claudene graduated from Cadillac High School in 1960 and enjoyed taking college enrichment classes as an adult. After graduation, she worked as a caregiver for young children in Owosso. She married Earl Oram in 1963 and raised two daughters while working in various capacities at Montrose Orchards in Montrose for nearly 20 years. Claudene earned a CENA certificate and spent many years providing health services to residents of Cadillac, Hot Springs, Benton, Williamston, Lansing, and Saginaw before retiring in 2020.
Claudene was active in her church, where she shared a love of learning about the Lord and preparing to be caught up to meet the Lord at the Resurrection. Claudene was an avid reader and shared her love of books with her daughters, who often accompanied her on trips to the library and bookstores. Travel was always a pleasant diversion. Trips to Niagara Falls and the Upper Peninsula were a staple of spring and summer vacations when her children were young. She continued her travels by completing Circle Tours of all five Great Lakes; trips to Arkansas and Alabama to visit her grandchildren; a vacation to Florida; leisurely drives through the countryside with Cynthia; and traveling with Rebecca throughout Michigan, New York, and Vermont in her later years. Besides reading and traveling, Claudene enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and Search A Word puzzles in her spare time, collecting Marjolein Bastin figurines, and taking care of the neighborhood cats. She especially enjoyed the chicken liver meal at Zehnder's of Frankenmuth and would often accompany her daughters and friends on birthday celebrations.
She is survived by her children Rebecca (David) Boris and Cynthia (Dave) Storey; grandchildren Deborah (fiancé Aaron), Shannon, Jeffrey, Timothy, and Cheyenne Wittig; and great-granddaughter Suzanna Grace Shropshire; sister Donna Gladstone; half-sister Dolly Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
Claudene was preceded in death by her parents.
A private funeral service will be performed at the Saginaw Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunday, May 2, 2021.
Memorial contributions to the Humane Society are appreciated.
