Obituary of Leonita Dee Wittbrodt

Age 90, of Flushing, died Thursday, March 11, 2021, at The Oaks of Grand Blanc. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing. Rev. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta to officiate with burial to follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc on Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:00 pm. On Wednesday morning, Lee will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Robert Catholic Church. Lee was born in Detroit on July 23, 1930, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Cecilia (Noetzel) Browne. Lee attended St. Michael’s School in Flint and moved to Arizona her Senior year, where she graduated with the Class of 1948. Lee continued her education in Oregon attending Marylhurst College and graduated with her Bachelors of Science in education in 1952. Lee then moved back to Michigan to complete her Master’s degree, where she met, fell in love with, and was married to Leonard Wittbrodt on June 23, 1956. Lee graduated from U of M with her Master’s in education in 1955 and went on to teach in Ann Arbor, Flint, and Swartz Creek. She taught for 20 years before her retirement in 1980. Lee was a Boy Scout leader and was very involved with church activities and with the Flushing Band Boosters. She was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church and was closely involved with Victorious Ministries. Lee was a wonderful mother and she taught her children many things, including how to balance life and how to have fun while doing chores and working together. She loved to camp and go Up North. In 1967, she and her husband took a vacation out west with all seven children in a station wagon with a pop-up camper for three weeks. Lee enjoyed reading, needlepoint, cross-stitch, sewing, cake decorating, and gardening. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of The Oaks at Woodfield in Grand Blanc for the outstanding compassion, care, and friendship given to our mom. Left to cherish Lee’s memory, her sons: Leonard Jr. and wife, Laurie Wittbrodt, Paul Wittbrodt and wife, Kathy Grammer, Joe and wife, Audrey Wittbrodt, and Tom Wittbrodt; daughters: Mary and husband, Bob Sheehan, Kathy and husband, Dave Goodrow, Theresa and husband, Jim Wade; 12 grandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years: Leonard Wittbrodt; and three brothers: Dan Browne, Leo Browne, and Ed Browne.
