My condolences to your family, she will be in my prayers. I was so fortunate to have known her through the Explorer Scouts program she ran at FOH. Her enthusiasm and patience to deal with us is more appreciated now than back when I was a teenager. She taught me a lot and influenced who I am today.

Laura had so many gifts which she shared generously with others. She came into my life not long after I began working at St Mary's in Saginaw. It seemed we were destined to become very good friends. She blessed my life and my family with love and joy. Laura had a special gift for connecting with people in a way that was uplifting and inspirational. She was able to bring out qualities in people that they didn't know they had. I'm an introvert by nature but she convinced me to dress up like Charlie Chaplin, and along with her as Harpo Marx, we walked through the hospital promoting a new television channel from the Education Department. The love and friendship I have with Laura is always a part of me and I carry that in my heart always.

Laura entered my life when she came to my rescue. In the summer of 1982, I was planning to move from MSU to Flint where I would be based to complete my medical school training. There was one big problem: his name was Shadow, my 80+ pound German Shepard mix.
In a panic about finding a place to live, I went to the medical education department office for help. The secretary said
"YOU NEED TO TALK WITH LAURA FOY. SHE'S LOOKING FOR A ROOMMATE WITH A BIG DOG". She called Laura who said she would be right there.
In walked this exuberant pixie of a woman who told me her black lab Sidney was depressed since her previous roommate and her dog moved out. So we made a doggie play date. Our pooches hit it off right away. I lived with Laura for 2 years. She provided doggie day care for Shadow after I completed my training and bought a home of my own. I owe her a debt I could never repay.
What started as an arrangement of convenience turned into a life long friendship. Laura, I will miss you.

Laura was a cherished friend. We met at St.Marys, both working in health education. Laura brought joy and laughter into her work, her life, and to her friends. No one could captivate an audience quite like she could-important health information imparted but with grace and humor. She was a star. Laura was very creative and worked hard. She energized the workplace, was active in the Flint community, and was my loyal, special friend. I will miss having her in my life. My condolences and thanks to her children and family members and to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Pat Pelletier Photo of Laura with beloved pet Photo of Laura and Pat in Charleston, SC

So sorry to hear about Laura's passing. We worked together at FOH for many years. My best memories of her were the sailing trips we took the FOH MEDICAL EXPLORERS on on the Prevailing Winds. She was the lead advisor and organized these awesome week long outings as well as arranging career shadowing of health professionals for the students. She contributed years of dedication to educating physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff. She is greatly missed.

Laura was a shining light at FOH to all us new nursing grads! I loved her warmth and caring spirit! She was a mentor who excelled in making people feel a part of a bigger picture in health care.
