Obituary of Anita Maria Huerta

Age 90, of Mt Morris, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. A private burial will take place on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Mike Davis to officiate. The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Martin Funeral, Cremation, and Tribute Services of Mt Morris. Anita was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on July 1, 1930, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Augustine and Tiburcia (Toledo) Sandoval. She met, fell in love with, and married the love of her life, Herman Huerta, on January 5, 1950. He sadly preceded her in death on April 26, 1992. Anita worked as a sales clerk for Kmart for 19.5 years until her retirement in 1985. An active member of the North End Baptist Church, Anita often helped with VBS, funeral dinners, and cleaning the church. She was involved in Red Hatters and worked as an inspector for elections for Mt. Morris Township for many years. Anita also worked at and was an active member of the Clio Senior Center and Krapohl Senior Center. Anita was an active girl scout leader for many years. She was active in the Beecher School District as a teacher's aide and worked after school with many kids. Anita loved to go on vacation with her children and travel to different places Up North. She would often rent a cabin in Tawas or Sand Lake. In her free time, Anita enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, cooking for her family, especially authentic Mexican food, and going to breakfast with her friends, which she did for many years.
Anita leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Herman Huerta, Anthony, and wife, Cheri Huerta, Michael and Susan Huerta; two daughters: Catherine and husband, Bobby Vaughn, Rebbeca Tubbs; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Margaret Sandoval, Soccora Garibay; and many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years: Herman Huerta; her parents; three sisters: MaryLou Hernandez, Patricia Rowe, Connie Hernandez; seven brothers: Andrew Sandoval, Augustine Sandoval, Frederick Sandoval, Frank Sandoval, John Sandoval, Larry Sandoval, Joe Sandoval.
