Obituary of James Edward Splear

Age 51, of Montrose, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021, at McLaren Flint. A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the Church of the Holy Family in Grand Blanc. A private burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Reverend Father Joseph Krupp to officiate. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Church of the Holy Family. Jim was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, on February 25, 1969, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Robert and Susan Marie (Dyer) Splear. Growing up in Royal Oak, Jim attended Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic School, graduating with the Class of 1987. Continuing his education, James attended Eastern Michigan University before transferring to the New England Culinary Institute, graduating as a Certified Chef. Jim worked at many restaurants in Chicago and Michigan as a sous chef. He had a deep faith and was a devout Catholic. Jim was intelligent, had a good sense of humor, enjoyed playing video games, and was a great dancer. Most importantly, Jim was devoted to his family and loved to spend time with his two sons. In his free time, James enjoyed listening to music, theater, and trying new restaurants.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Benedict Splear, Samuel Splear; and their dearly loved mother, Kelly Splear; parents: James and Susan Splear; four sisters: Sheila Webster, Janet, and husband, Edward McInnis, Valerie and husband, Jim Hendricks, Mary Ellen, and husband, James Yealin; many nieces and nephews.
