Carolyn was born in Clare, Michigan, on December 21, 1948, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loren and Lila (LaVoye) Koontz. She grew up in Farwell and graduated from Farwell High School with the Class of 1967. Carolyn met Gail while caring for his parents; the two dated for four months, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 19, 1967. She was primarily a homemaker but worked outside the home in the retail industry occasionally; she was generous, caring, devoted to her family, hardworking, and always willing to help others. Carolyn loved to spoil her nieces and nephews and hosted a foreign exchange student from Denmark. She volunteered as an EMT on the Kearsley Rescue Squad for 13 years and held numerous training sessions for EMT's throughout the northern Genesee County area. In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, camping, boating, going up north to Clare County, spending time with her family and friends, hosting holiday get-togethers, and loved to cook and bake.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 53 years, Gail; sister, Donna Clark; brother, Dennis, and wife, Donna Koontz; two brothers-in-law: Kenneth and wife, Gloria Irwin and Loren and wife, Diane Irwin; many beloved nieces and nephews, that she thought of as children; and many special friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Floyd Koontz; two brothers-in-law, Donald and Lloyd Irwin; and sister-in-law, Nina Wilkerson.
