Obituary of Joyce J. Burtoft

A age 86 of Swartz Creek, died on Monday, December 7, 2020, at McLaren Flint. In accordance with Joyce’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be directed to the charity of one’s choice. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Joyce’s tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com.
Joyce was born on January 11, 1934, in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Marguerite (Knowles) Austin. Raised in Flint, Joyce attended Flint Community Schools, graduating in 1952. After graduation, Joyce went to work at Michigan Bell Telephone, where she worked as a clerk for over 30 years until her retirement.
After retirement, Joyce would become reacquainted with her old friend, James Makaravage. The two dated and have had a beautiful companionship for several years.
In her free time, Joyce enjoyed going to the casino with James, baking, dancing, and dining out.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memory, her significant other, James Makaravage, and her nephew John Michael Sigerson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara Sigerson.
