COVID-19 UPDATE: With the recent guidelines limiting the number of people to less than 25 at any gathering, we are asking that you consider other ways to help support family and friends during this difficult time as an alternative to attending a visitation or funeral.

Age 88, of Clio, died Saturday, November 21, 2020, at his home with his family by his side. A private graveside burial service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on German's tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com.

German was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, on May 7, 1932, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenyon and Ella (Pitman) Barr. Raised and educated in Walnut Ridge Arkansas, as a  young man, German moved to Michigan and began working for General Motors. He would then go on to work for Buick as a fork truck operator for 39.9 years before retiring in 1990. German met the love of his life, Grace, because they were neighbors.  The two dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on November 22, 1954, in Angola, Indiana. Together their marriage was blessed with four children. German loved spending time with his family; he was extremely hard working and a great provider for his family. He had a great sense of humor and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. German was a proud member of the UAW #599. In his free time, German enjoyed yard work, working in the garden, bowling, and going to visit family in Arkansas as often as he could.

German leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 66 years: Grace Barr; three children: Raymond and wife, Paula Barr; Judy and husband, Jake Kleiber, Terry Barr; two grandchildren: Sarah Barr, Adam Barr; one great-grandaughter: Keziah; sister: Mary Jane Blackwell.

German was preceded in death by his son: Dennis Barr; two brothers: Woodrow Barr and E.L. Barr; four sisters: Mildred Hon Foley, Maxine Johnson LaLone, Genivia Mooney Gray, Vivian Harriett.
