Obituary of Delores Mae Bennett
COVID-19 UPDATE: With the recent guidelines limiting the number of people to less than 10 at any gathering, we are asking that you consider other ways to help support family and friends during this difficult time as an alternative to attending a visitation or funeral.
Age 88, of Flint, died Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at CareTel Inns of Tri-Cities, in Bay City, Michigan. A private graveside service will take place at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial to follow. Pastor Kevin Dixon to officiate. Expressions of sympathy and memorial contributions may be placed on Dee’s tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com.
Dee was born September 15, 1931, in Clarksville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd and Lillian (Carter) Burkett. On March 20, 1971, Dee married Donald Bennett, and sadly, he preceded her in death on October 5, 2010.
Left to cherish Dee’s memory are her six children: Mary Candela, Carlene (Vern) Mitchell, Dale (Lynn) Carll, Kristi (Rich) Remmerde, Henry (MaryKay) Bennett, David (Debbie) Bennett; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Vic (Donna) Bennett and Al Bennett; sister-in-law, Ann Bennett; and many nieces and nephews.
Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; mother and father-in-law, Maud and Lawrence Bennett; brother-in-law, Bob Bennett, and other family members.
The family wishes to thank Al Bennett, for keeping his promise to care for Dee, after his brother, Don, had passed, along with all who helped keep that promise: Susie, MaryAnn, David, Barbie, Paula, Mike and Tricia and kids, and her many friends at her home at Kearsley Daly Villa, in Flint.
Special thanks go out to John and Jim at Caretel Inns; John was one of Dee’s caregivers, and treated her like his own grandma, and Jim, who made all of the McDonald’s Shake and Coca-Cola runs for her, with a smile!
This obituary was lovingly written by Dee’s family.
