I began my friendship with Jim through the American Police Chaplain’s Association. I was privileged to become a member of the board as I was able to witness Jim’s passion for Christ and ministry to the law enforcement community. His passion for the Gospel was contagious.
I was privileged to help Jim lead a Police Chaplain’s Academy, in Tennessee, as we served chaplains from different departments and from multiple states. He was a mentor, friend and brother in Christ.
Jim helped me become a better servant of God. He demonstrated love and devotion to all around him. He was never afraid to share the Good News.
When I was at my weakest, while battling cancer, Jim reminded me that we are fragile but God is strong. His reassurance and confidence helped me much more than he could have imagined. I will always be grateful for that visit and time of fellowship.
I will miss him. I’m confident I will see him again in the company of the saints and in the arms of God.

My brother Jim and I grew up together in a very different America. With five boys in our family, Jim and I shared most everything, from clothes to bicycles, to cars to friends. I was very proud to be Jim's next youngest brother (13 months) and often bragged about him as an MC at the holiness youth crusades of Detroit Mich. where we grew up. He also became a radio announcer at the local religious radio station WMUZ.
He joined the air force after college and just to keep up with him, I did the same thing. Since then we sort of went different directions in the USA, myself down south while Jim stayed north. We would see each other periodically throughout the year and years (holidays at home with mom and dad) but as life got busier and more complicated, distance played a part in not seeing each other as often as we could have.
I was so blessed to see him this past Christmas with my mom in tow, as we stayed a week or so in Mt. Morris where he last lived.
From that point on, Jim seemed to go down hill health wise, and it was just the Good Lords will that we were able to see him one last time before he passed away.
I know Jim is in heaven with my dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles and a cousin. You see, our whole family lives for God and that time when we can reunite with our loved ones eternally on the other side of this life.
I love you Jim, Liz and boys!!

To the family of Jim Salo:
From: Retired Trooper Dwight Denning
Jim was a great man with a heart of gold. I met Jim as a young Michigan State Police officer (Trooper) at the Owosso State Police Post which is now closed. I quickly struck up a friendship with Jim as he was a kind man and showed concern for people even if he didn't know them. There came a point when Jim invited me to go to a Promise Keepers event in Pontiac Michigan where I reaffirmed my love for the lord Jesus Christ and to my wife Gloria. That was almost thirty years ago but it seems like yesterday. It hurts to hear that Jim had passed but I know he is in heaven with the lord doing great things. To the family I pray that God will continue to bless you and keep you. Jim Salo my hero.
