Obituary of Shirley Iris Nunn

Age 78 of Vassar, died Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Select Speciality at Covenant Harrison in Saginaw. In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church 885 West Saginaw Street Vassar. Shirley’s family will receive friends at the church from noon until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation. Envelopes are available at the church.

Shirley was born on August 12, 1941, in Vassar, the daughter of Clifton and Helen (Leck) Gamet. Educated locally, Shirley attended Vassar Schools, graduating with the class of 1959. She married  James G. Nunn on November 25, 1961. Shirley was an avid homemaker who enjoyed showing horses, spending time with her family, playing BINGO, and traveling. Shirley was a 4-H Leader with the Vassar Trail Blazers for 40 years. She was a long time member of Grace Luther Church in Vassar. Most of all, her husband, son, daughter, and grandchildren were very important to her; she loved them very much.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Nunn; son, Timothy, and wife, Annita Nunn; daughter, Lora (Nunn) Pletcher; grandchildren: Dylon Nunn and Shelbee Pletcher; sister, Mary Ann Lindow, and husband, Hazam Reyme; sisters-in-law: Janet Gamet, Barbara Gamet, and Pat Palmer; brothers-in-law: Tom and wife, Janna Nunn, Mike and wife, Connie Nunn; many nieces; nephews; and her beloved Goddaughters: Pam Carter and Patty Baker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia and husband, Harry Schaub; brothers: George Gamet, Thomas Gamet, and Clifton Junior Gamet; and niece, Christine Fenton.
