Obituary of Maxine Lucille Belanger Stiffler
Age 87, died on January 22, 2020, at her home, with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Reverend Father Roy Horning to officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Monday, from 2:30 pm until 8:00 pm. On Monday evening, at 7:00 pm, family, friends, and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary. On Tuesday, Maxine will be taken to church to lie in state from 12 noon until the time of Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm.
Maxine was born in Flint, on February 17, 1932, to Mr. and Mrs. George and Edna (Gower) Pashby. Educated locally, Maxine grew up in Mt. Morris and graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the Class of 1950. While in high school, Maxine worked as a waitress at Rollison’s. This is where Maxine would meet Eugene Belanger. The two dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on October 14, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Their marriage would be blessed with six children. Together, Maxine and Eugene enjoyed traveling around the United States by motorcycle. Sadly, Eugene preceded her in death on June 20, 1992.
Maxine relocated to Florida, where she would meet John Stiffler. They were united in marriage in 2000. Sadly he preceded her in death on October 6, 2013.
Reading, crocheting, painting, square dancing, and doing puzzles, were just a few of Maxine's hobbies. Maxine will be remembered most for being a great Mom and a great friend.
Maxine is survived by her two daughters, three sons, 12 grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, three brothers, and one sister.
