Obituary of William Joseph Stemple Jr.
Age 76, died on January 2, 2020, at Hurley Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, in Mt. Morris, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Bill’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00.
Bill was born on June 22, 1943, to Mr. and Mrs. William and Dorothy “Nana” (Smith) Stemple. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the class of 1963. In 1968, Bill would proudly enlist to serve his country in the Vietnam war, where he was awarded a Purple Heart, among other accolades. After returning from the war, Bill came back to Michigan and began his career with the United States Postal Service. In his free time, Bill loved to play golf at Lapeer Country Club, collect movies, was an avid U of M and Detroit Tigers fan. He also loved traveling to lighthouses and spending time with his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his children: Stacy and husband, Ken Hickey, Jeffery Creger, Heather Stemple, Carrie and Freddy Wright, and Noel Stemple; grandchildren: Christopher Hickey, Sarah-Beth Hickey, Deaven Vincent and wife, Jessica, Logan Wohlford, Ahnalea Wohlford, Andrea Saban, Caleb Stemple, and Cayden Wright; great-grandchild: Peyton Saban; ex-wife: Diane Stemple; Siblings: Carol Dolloff and husband, Mike, and Sandra Ballou; sister-in-law: Beverly Stemple and dearest love, Donna Ryder.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Linda Wilcox and Robert Stemple.
