Obituary of Charles James Stiger
Age 75, died Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Stonegate Health Campus in Lapeer. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 30, 2019, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Father Jay Gantz to officiate. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Charles was born on December 11, 1944, in Flint. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Dorothy (Ketchum) Stiger. Charles would heed the call of his country and serve in the United States Marines from April 30, 1962, until his honorable discharge on August 29, 1966. He met and married the love of his life, Peggy Ann Vickers, and together they raised four wonderful children. Charles went on to work for General Motors, where he was a Dye Setter until his retirement. Charles could always be seen with his favorite remote in his hand, buying something off the “As Seen on TV” commercials. He loved his beloved pets, Lady the cat, and Monte the dog, both of whom he would feed popcorn while they sat with him watching TV. In his free time, he could be found outside grilling his famous steaks, hunting, or working on cars. Charles’ all-time favorite hobby was working on his 1970 royal blue Monte Carlo that he restored with all original parts. His family will always remember him in that car headed down to Back to the Bricks blasting the Beach Boys. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy; children: Tonya Oaks, Randy Kennedy, David Oaks; grandchildren: Robert Watson, Stacy Blosser, Bradley Kennedy, Caleigh Kennedy, Ashley Kennedy, Lacey Kennedy, Lisa Oaks, Stephanie Oaks; several great-grandchildren; brother: Bill Stiger; very special friends; Randy and Mary Bowerson and several other nieces, nephews and family members.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Jamie Stiger; sisters: Lou and Beverly
