Obituary of Jack Kenneth Bradford
Age 90, of Flint, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Saturday, December 14, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Jack's family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Tuesday, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm. Tuesday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather at 7:00 pm to pray the Rosary, followed by a Knights of Columbus Service and 4th Degree Chalice Ceremony. On Wednesday morning, Jack will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Jack was born in Burton, Michigan, on September 4, 1929, to Mr. and Mrs. William and Lena (Loiselle) Bradford. Growing up in Flint, Jack was raised in a family of 12 children and was educated locally. As a young man, he met the beautiful Onalee Lavigne. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on April 15, 1950. Sadly, she preceded him in death on September 9, 1999. Jack worked as a Lather Carpenter for 30 years, belonging to Lathers Local #383, and Michigan Carpenters Local #706, before retiring in 1992. Later, Jack would marry Sally Lavigne on February 10, 2015.
In his free time, Jack enjoyed playing cards, fishing, golfing, watching his kids and grandkids play sports, dancing, and socializing. Jack was an avid volunteer in the Mt. Morris Community, serving with the Knights of Columbus #4285 for 40 years, the Leon Satkowiak 4th Degree Assembly #0524, the Lions Club, and St. Mary Catholic Church. He and his brother-in-law, Garth Lavigne served together, as a paramedics for Kearsley Rescue Squad for many years.
Jack leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Sally; children: Gregory and wife, Deborah Bradford, Monica Bradford, and wife, Kathy Bowers, and John and wife, Sherri Bradford, seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mildred Holden, Joann Bourdeau, Shirley McDowell, and Betty Lou and husband, Doug Venable, and many other close relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Onalee; two sisters; and five brothers.
