Obituary of Agnes Kingsbury
Age 87, of Fenton, died Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Wellbridge of Fenton. The funeral service will take place, 11:00 am, Friday, October 18, 2019, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Dean Dumbrille to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Agnes’ family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Friday, from 10:00 am to the time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or Genesee County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Agnes was born on October 23, 1931, in Twining, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey and Ann (Walz) Severn. Agnes married the love of her life, Marvin Kingsbury, on January 29, 1949. Sadly, he preceded her in death on October 9, 1995. Educated locally, she graduated from Mt. Morris High School and worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s trucking company and as a homemaker. Agnes was a member of the Eagles Aerie #629. In her free time, she loved to garden and plant flowers, as well as bowling on a family bowling league called “Family Affair,” knitting, crocheting, and watching game shows. She also loved to ride on the back of her husband’s motorcycle, with their longest trip being to Nashville, Tennessee. Agnes also played pool and Euchre four nights a week. She especially loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
Left to cherish Agnes’ memory are her children: Harvey Kingsbury, Sherry (Michael) Stevens, Shelly (Larry) Monks, Sheila (Steven) Allen, Marvin Kingsbury, Jr.; one sister and two brothers: Harvey Severn, Ruth Scannel, Robert Severn; 12 grandchildren: Nicholas, Chris, Jenny, Lisa, Bryan, Gary, Richard, Jennifer, Steven Jr., Scott, Kristy, and Marvin Max III; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin; daughter in law, Patricia Kingsbury; brother in law, Robert Scannel; sister-in-law, Roberta Severn; and close friend, Walter White.
