Jay was born in Bloomington, Indiana, on January 3, 1928, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Franklin and Clara Elsie (Hale) Abram. Jay married the love of his life, Leona Mae Hendricks, in April of 1962. Sadly, she preceded him in death on November 26, 1988. Jay would heed his call of duty in the United States Army during World War II until receiving his honorable discharge. In 1950, Jay heeded his call of duty again for the Korean War, enlisting in the United States Navy. Upon returning to civilian life, Jay would begin working for AC Rochester in Flint, as a machine repairman for many years, retiring in 1993. In his free time, Jay enjoyed writing poetry, completing crossword puzzles, and watching Westerns. Jay also enjoyed tinkering around in the garage, traveling across the United States and attending the reunions of the Naval ships that he was deployed on. Jay was a long-time member of American Legion Post #64 in Flint.
Left to cherish his memory, son, Jay Blake Abram; two grandsons: Chase, and Tanner Abram; and many nieces; nephews; cousins, and friends.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leona Mae; three sisters: Madge Edwards, Frances "Bobbie" Ringer, Rosetta Graham; his brother, Charles Abram; and special friend, Ruth Alumbaugh.
