Obituary of Rev. David E. Wermuth
Age 85, of Vassar, went home to be with our Lord, at his home, with family by his side, on Thursday, September 19, 2019. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Vassar Church of the Nazarene 3822 W. Saginaw Road, with Dr. Stephen T. Anthony officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Argentine Township Cemetery. David’s family will receive friends at the Vassar Church of the Nazarene on Thursday, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Friday, from 10:00 am until time of service. Memorial donations may be directed to Vassar Nazarene Church Mortgage Principle Fund Envelopes are available at the church.
David was born on August 21, 1934, in Atlanta, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Marion (Saunders) Wermuth. Pursuing his calling as a minister, David earned degrees from Owosso Bible College and Olivet Nazarene University. On December 27, 1952, David and Eleanor Stevens were united in marriage at the Argentine Church of the Nazarene. He was a pastor in the Eastern Michigan District of theChurch of the Nazarene for 53 years, before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, reading, and eating breakfast at McDonald’s with “The Gang.”
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, of 66 and a half years, Eleanor; children: David and wife, Roxie Wermuth, Daniel and wife, Brenda Wermuth, Ann and husband, Steven Roland, and Rebecca and husband, John Kelley; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Wermuth and many nieces; nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia; and brother’s, Daniel and William.
