Obituary of Rosemary Nelson
Rosemary was born in Detroit, on November 15, 1932, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Mildred (Bray) Whell. She attended Detroit MacKenzie High School, graduating with the class of 1949. Rosemary met and married the love of her life, Richard Nelson on December 24, 1951, in Detroit. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67-years, Richard, five children: David Nelson, Mark and wife, Dawn Nelson, Connie and husband, Steve Rae, Elaine and husband, Paul Cooke, and Lisa and husband, Allen Bana; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard and wife, JoAnn Whell, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In her free time, Rosemary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, singing in church choirs, bowling, golfing, sewing, and crocheting. She also enjoyed traveling across the United States and to England. Rosemary worked for Western Electric in Detroit, Dancers Clothing Store in Milford, and Milford Department Store. She also volunteered her time at the Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord. She was a dedicated wife, mom, and homemaker.
The funeral service will take place, 11:00 am, Monday, September 16, 2019, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc. Chaplain Dwight Murphy to officiate with burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Rosemary's family will be present at the funeral home to receive guests on Sunday, September 15, 2019, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm; and on Monday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald; daughter-in-law, Patti; and her grandson, Jason Allen Rae.
