Obituary of Mary Sue Walker
Age 78, died Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Heartland Briarwood in Flint. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 2:00 pm, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday, from 12:00 noon, until the time of service. Pastor Jerome Taylor will officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park.
Sue was born on May 29, 1941, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James and Ethel (Ryan) Golden. Born and raised in Flint, she was educated locally in Flint Community Schools. She would meet, fall in love, and marry Roger Walker on December 29, 1961, and together they shared 56 years of marriage before he preceded her in death. Working for many years as a Rural Route Carrier for the Mt. Morris Post Office, Sue retired in 1988. When not busy at home with her family, Sue enjoyed eating out, horseback riding, playing poker, knitting, and crocheting.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Angela “Angie” and husband, Fred Mason, James “Jim” and wife, Melinda Walker, and Steven “Steve” Walker; four grandchildren: Katrina and husband, Eric Tozer, Bryan and wife, Jackie Donalson, Kacie Walker, and Sara Walker; great-grandchildren: Stephanie McMahan, Caleb McMahan, Braden Haines, and Olivia Donalson; and great-great-granddaughter, Adalyn Boyer; and several in-laws; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; and sisters, Barb, Patricia, and an infant sister.
