Obituary of Cora Sue Parks
Age 72, of Mt. Morris, died Sunday, April 7, 2019, at home, surrounded by her family. A funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Service in Mt. Morris. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, from 1:00 pm, to 8:00 pm, and on Thursday, from 10:00 am, until the time of service. Rene Parks will officiate, with cremation to follow. Memorial donations may be directed to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Cora was born February 15, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferris and Virginia (Cheney) Bigger. She and Harold Parks were united in marriage on April 26, 1965. Sadly, he preceded her in death on April 27, 2016.
Cora enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo, going to the casino, watching NASCAR, playing Scrabble, doing puzzles, attending her grandchildren’s school events and celebrating all holidays. She is known for her large vegetable garden, her many baked goods, her quick wit, and a huge heart.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Harold Parks, Jr., Phillip Parks, and Steve and wife, Rene Parks; grandchildren: Beonica Smith, Rebecca and wife, Monica Walker, Christopher Parks, Michael Parks and fiancee, Brandi Digiacomo, Thomas Smith, Vincent Parks and fiancee, Sharee Bailey, Mercedes and husband, Jordan White, Antonio Burch, Charles Wheeler, Caliegh Osborn; great-grandchildren: Riley and Ryder Nelson, Raiden Smith, Jayce and Zayne Coburn, Sydney Walker, Sophia and Kolton Parks, Brent and Lilliana Digiacomo, Kimora Kinard, Karmello Williams, Jaxson and Kayden White, and DezzaRae Osborn; brother: Ferris and wife, Judy Bigger; sisters: Beverly Rodabaugh, Vicky Hutchinson, Dorothy Barber, Kathy and husband Bill Race, and Darlene Hutchinson; and many special nieces, nephews, and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; daughter, Shelly Smith; daughter-in-law, Michelle Wheeler; grandson, Justin Coburn; and sister, Norene Holloway.
