Obituary of Claud Kenneth Jaynes
Age 93, formerly of Vassar, died Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Genesis Adult Foster Care Home in Madison Heights, Michigan.
Funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Martin Funeral Home - Vassar. Mr. Ray Shamel will officiate with burial to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday, from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Claud was born January 7, 1926, in Twining, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Evelyn (Smith) Jaynes. He and Elizabeth Mae Baxter were united in marriage on July 8, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2009. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for the US Postal Service for over 40 years before retiring as the Postmaster of Vassar. Claud enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member of the Vassar Nazarene Church, volunteering in countless ways.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Kenneth (Sally) Jaynes; grandchildren, Timothy Nowak, Teresa (Wayne) Hicks, Kyle Jaynes, Kate Jaynes, Peter Nowak; great-grandchildren, Austin, Tate and Logan Hicks; and many nieces and nephews.
Claud was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth Mae; daughter, Patricia L. Nowak; brothers, Allen, Milton, and Henry Jaynes; and sister, Margaret Sipes.
