Obituary of Lawrence "Art" Arthur Williams
Lawrence "Art" Williams, age 76, of Clio, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019, in Hurley Medical Center. In accordance with Art's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at New Covenant Church in Clio with Pastor Barry Briggs officiating. Art's family will be present at the church to receive guests on Wednesday, from 11:30 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. A private burial will be held at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the church.
Art was born December 4, 1942, in Flint, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee and Caroline (Waltrip) Williams. He proudly served in the United States Army until receiving his honorable discharge on September 15, 1968. Art worked as a regional manager in telecommunications until retiring in the 1990s. After his retirement, he was flown all over the world doing consulting work for upcoming telecommunications companies. He married the love of his life, Susan Burton on February 12, 1983, in Las Vegas. Sadly, she preceded him in death on February 9, 2019. In his free time, Art enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, restoring antique cars, and attending antique car shows with his wife. He also enjoyed skeet shooting.
Left to cherish his memory, three daughters: Suzette and husband, Jeff Merket, Janice and husband, Michael Lee and JoAnna Stratman (Bob Nelson); ten grandchildren: Mathew Benham, Dakota Walthall, Jonathan Benham, Bradley Benham, Taylor Morris, Braden Walthall, Joseph Benham, Sierra Morris, Cooper Walthall and Kayla Benham; brother-in-law, Bill Burnside; sister-in-law, Janet Chambers; many nieces, nephews; and special family: Paul and Emily White.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan; three brothers: Lloyd, Walt, and Carol Lee; sister, Patricia.
