Obituary of Joseph Raab
Age 82, of Mt. Morris, passed away early Saturday morning, February 9, 2019, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc with his family by his side. A funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Reverend James Offrink will officiate with burial to follow in Meadowview Memorial Gardens in Davison. Joseph’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions can be made to the Heritage United Church of Christ in Davison. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Joseph was born in Budapest, Hungary on February 13, 1936, to Mr. & Mrs. Antal and Anna Raab. He and Elizabeth Tomsik were united in marriage on November 5, 1955. Joseph worked for General Motors as a millwright for over thirty years before his retirement. He was an active member at Heritage United Church of Christ in Davison. Joseph loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He liked traveling with his wife to many places in Europe and vacationing with the Kruppa family in Canada. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, boating, dancing, winemaking and tending to his fruit trees. Joseph was always known as Mr. Fix it since he enjoyed fabricating and making new devices. He was known for his Hungarian Goulosh “Bogracs” and when he was a pigeon keeper, raising many pigeons.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Eva and husband, James Puppan, Barbara Raab and Leslie Raab; four grandchildren: Krisztina and husband, Eric Wilhelm, Katalin and husband, Jeremy Hughes, Leslie Raab and Casey Curtis; four great-grandchildren: Dominic Hughes, Gavin Hughes, Gabriel Wilhelm and Elizabeth Wilhelm; and many other family members and friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Raab, son, Joseph Raab, parents, Antal and Anna Raab, and sister, Anna Marie Hegedus.
