Obituary of Thomas Lynn McCormick
Thomas Lynn and Paula Mae McCormick were married on August 19, 1950, and raised a beautiful family with two sons, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Thomas lost the love of his life after 68 years when Paula preceded him in death on September 22, 2018. Thomas would join his wife on January 1, 2019. They both made their transition surrounded by family. A private memorial service will be planned for the summer.
You could say they were made for each other. Tom was a man of few words, while Paula was boisterous and vocal. When Thomas did speak, he was a master of sarcasm and wit. They had a mutual love not only for each other but for gardening. He would maintain the vegetable garden, while she would take care of the landscaping.
Tom was born to Dennis and Lois (Boomer) McCormick on June 21, 1932. One brother Jack survives him. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dallas, and sister, Lucile. Tom was a die-hard Lions fan and could be found cheering on his beloved team.
Paula was born to Elmer and Mary Margaret (Marnie) Powers on July 17, 1931. Her sister, Wymadene and brother, Dick preceded her in death.
Tom and Paula held family dear. They often had celebrations blending both sides of the family. Not a sporting event or musical performance went by without them being in attendance. They truly loved, doted on, and some would say spoiled their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The couple hosted large family gatherings where, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family were invited. As Tom and Paula’s time together went on, their immediate family grew, so did the gatherings. When Randy and Marty began starting families of their own, the parties would grow to have in-laws and grandchildren in attendance.
Both Tom and Paula worked hard to support and care for their family. Tom maintained two jobs, while Paula maintained a variety of jobs over the years.
The greatest legacy of Thomas and Paula are their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They are survived by children: T. Randall and wife, Ethel Lynne McCormick, Martin and wife, Kathy McCormick; grandchildren: Kari and husband, Erik Davis, Marnie and husband, David Lawrence, Paul and wife, Ashley McCormick, Michael and wife, Gabrielle McCormick, Emily and husband, Aaron Kennedy; great-grandchildren: Morgan Davis Earegood, Randi Davis, Stella Lawrence, Dylann Lawrence, Truman McCormick, Genevive McCormick, Olive McCormick, Juniper McCormick, and Cameron Kennedy.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of McLaren Hospice, and Gross Assisted living.
