Obituary of Yvonne Nanette Harris
Yvonne Nanette Harris, age 84, of Flint, died Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi surrounded by her family. In accordance with Yvonne’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial will take place 4:00 pm, Friday, November 9, 2018, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to Ascension Genesys PACE of Genesee County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Yvonne was born on February 15, 1934, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred “Frenchie” and Evelyn (Potter) DeSerres. She graduated from Fenton High School class of 1952. Yvonne and Ronald were united in marriage on May 15, 1954, in Flint. Growing up Yvonne would waitress for her father at his restaurant for many years. Yvonne worked for Mott Community College as an instructor. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Yvonne and her husband volunteered for the Engaged and Marriage Encounter weekends for the church. As a young woman, she would sing for school dances and the Fenton Community Modern Dance Club. She had lots of talent to be taught to others including, photography, macramé, pottery, and decoupage.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband: Ronald Harris; two children: Cynthia and husband, Ted Smedes, Christopher and wife Marianne Harris; four grandchildren: Tim and wife, Nora Aulph, Gabriel and wife, Tiffany Harris, Kathryn and husband, Jon Lefevre and Greg Harris; five great-grandchildren: Kenny, Sophie, Sammy, Clark, and Harrison; three sisters: Elaine, Darleen, and Martha; brother, Mark; and step-sister, Beverly.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her son, Scott Harris, parents, and step-sister, Luella.
