Obituary of Christopher Alan Aplin
Christopher “Sparky” Aplin, age 55, of Mount Morris, died, Monday, October 15, 2018, at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral celebrating Christopher’s life will take place 11:00 am, Monday, October 22, 2018, at North Flushing Baptist Church, Pastor Dale Lewis officiating; with burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Christopher’s family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation, & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, on Sunday, October 21, 2018, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Monday morning, Christopher will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
Christopher was born in Flint, Michigan, on July 19, 1963, to Mr. and Mrs. Byron Arthur Aplin and Marilyn (Sloat) Aplin. He graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School, class of 1981. Upon his graduation, he answered the call of his country and served in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1985. After his service in the Navy, he attended Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida, graduating in 1998 with a Bachelor’s of Science in teaching. Christopher would marry the love of his life, Sarah Giles on July 9, 1988, at Trinity Baptist Church in Flushing, Michigan. Their union was blessed with three children. Prior to his death, Christopher was employed by Wal-Mart in Flint, in a management position. When he was not working, he could be found taking pictures, painting ceramics, or talking about his faith.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sarah Aplin; children: Joshua Christopher Aplin and fiancee, Katie Chapman, Bryan Christopher and wife, Mercedes Aplin, Janna Marie Aplin, and boyfriend, Stanley Hissong; grandchildren: Chase Aplin, Breydon Hissong; parents: Byron and Marilyn Aplin; siblings Jeffery Alplin, and Michael Aplin; sister-in-law, Debbie Aplin; nieces: Amanda and husband, Arvelle Willson, Kristy and husband, Josh Groce.
Christopher was preceded in death by his brother David Aplin, and grandma Harriman.
