Obituary of Ruth Ellen (Perry) Abdella
Ruth Ellen (Perry) Abdella, age 94, of Flint, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, at her home. A funeral service will take place 12:00 pm, Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Darrel Manning will officiate with cremation to follow. Ruth’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and again on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm.
Ruth was born on June 21, 1924, in Taskee, Missouri, the daughter of late Mr. & Mrs. Clarence and Rosa (White) Kime. She attended a small-town school called Chaonia School. Ruth worked for many years at General Motors Ternsted on the production line before her retirement in 1980. She loved spending time with her family. Ruth was a member of the Eastgate Baptist Church. She would volunteer many hours teaching at Sunday School, taking part in the missionary society, helping with the weekly dinners, and singing in the choir. She also worked as the activity’s director for the Clio Convalescent Center. In her free time, she enjoyed crafting, gardening, canning and listening to southern gospel music.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Ronald Perry and Michael and his wife, Barbara Perry; seven grandchildren: Lisa, Tony, Jamie, Kristina, Leslie, Lauren and Amanda; 14 great-grandchildren: Lance, Troy, Ashtyn, Tanner, Austin, Tyler, Madison, Jacob, Mikayla, Hannah, Abigail, Lilliana, Carter and Sylvia; two great-great-grandchildren: Alexis and Ava; two special friends: Marva and Shirley; and all the folks at Kearsley Daly Villa in Genesee Township.
Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Claude Perry, second husband David Abdella, daughter, Sharon Kennedy, and her parents.
