Obituary of Galen Kevin Gavit
Galen Gavit, 30, of Tuscola and Vassar, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018. A funeral service will take place Monday, August 20, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Martin Funeral, Cremation, Tribute Services in Vassar; with burial to follow at Tuscola Township Cemetery. Galen’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home, on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and again on Monday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm.
Galen was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 5, 1988, the son of M. and Mrs. Galen Austin Gavit and Sophia Delgado Allen. He attended Vassar and Ogemaw schools. Galen was a Coal Miner for Caballo Coal Mine. He also worked for his family business D&G Maintenance, where he was responsible for landscaping, and maintenance of 100s of properties a month. In his spare time, Galen was an umpire for Tuscola Softball. He enjoyed working with young children, especially on the ballfield his grandfather built. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper.
Galen is survived by his father, Galen A. Gavit, mother, Sophia (Delgado) Allen; brothers: Billy Jack Rood, Eric A. Bellman, Shane J. Delgado, Coty Z. Gavit, Nick Rozell, David Ewald, Roger Ewald, Chis Allen, Corey Allen, Kyle Allen, Collin Allen; sisters: Amanda Gavit Jenkins, Tamlyn D. Delgado, Kimmie Allen, Katie Allen, Keshia Allen, Adriana C. Gavit, Audrey Rozell; stepmothers: Lou Ann Gavit, Demae Rosenbum; grandma, Aurora Delgado, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Galen will be the guardian angel to his new baby niece, Hannah Lauren.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Maximiliano Delgado Sr., Wallace and Geneva Gavit, aunt: Sylvia Delgado, great aunt- Hailie Nobles, uncle: Galen Ferguson step-grandfather and fishing buddy Harold Rosenbum, special friend Shawn Henry.
